CSBi Hosts Field Day for CCS Teachers

Teachers from Carrollton City Schools recently enjoyed a day of learning by the creek with CSBi owner, Scott Britton. Representatives from each school included Science teachers, as well as STEM teachers and assistants. The day began with a discussion about how Buffalo Creek has eroded and how to gauge the impact that has had on the flow of water through campus.

The teachers then separated into groups and were led by members of the CSBi team into the creek. Here they had opportunity to take measurements which determine cross-section data, longitudinal profile, and overall stream geometry.

CSBi is scheduled to begin the process of restoring the creek back to a clean and natural state later this year. These field days of learning and collecting data will provide permanent documentation to allow comparison after the restoration project is completed.

CSBi is proud to be a leader in this unique educational experience. We are providing direction for the implementation of curriculum which focuses on the importance of stream restoration and the job opportunities related to this field.
